After Peter Quill's abduction from Earth in 1988, his most valuable possessions are his cassette player and the mix tape his mother gave to him. Your child is sure to treasure the memories of his or her Guardians of the Galaxy party just as dearly, so don't wait to get started! Whether you use some or all of the ideas on this page, it'll be easy to host a party that your child will never forget.

Guardians of the Galaxy Party Planning & Invitations

In addition to our basic Guardians of the Galaxy tableware and party supplies, there are a few other things you can gather to make an out-of-this-world party. If your child is really into the film, you may even have some of them already! If you don't own them, most of them can be easily acquired, or you can even make them yourselves.

  • Set up Guardians of the Galaxy posters or cardboard standups
  • Set the stage with sound and by playing the Guardians of the Galaxy movie soundtrack.
  • Decorate with an out of this world Guardians of the Galaxy pinatas.
  • Place Guardians of the Galaxy toys or action figures around the table for kids to place with while waiting for cake to be served.

There are plenty of ways to let your child's friends know about the party, depending on how early you're planning it and how personalized you want every aspect of it to be. Our Guardians of the Galaxy invitations are a great choice, but if you're putting a party together on a budget or if you've got a little more time on your hands, then making homemade invitations is a fun activity you can do with your child. Here are just a few ideas you can use:

  • Cut the shape of your child's favorite Guardian out of cardstock, or make an assortment! Star-Lord's mask, Rocket's face, or Groot's face are particularly recognizable shapes
  • Print out movie stills and fold them into a card shape.
  • Copy a page out of a Guardians of the Galaxy comic book and white out the text so you can fill the speech bubbles with all the details of your party. If you or your child is an artist, you can even draw your own scene!
  • Cut out circles of paper to look like planets and summon your child's friends to a special mission on Knowhere or Xandar

If you don't have the time to make your own invitations, our pre-printed invitations will do the job just fine. Ask each child to RSVP with the phrase "I am Groot" and they can all be part of the fun before the party even starts!

Guardians of the Galaxy Party Decorations & Food Ideas

Here are some of our favorite suggestions for Guardians of the Galaxy party decorations:

  • Play the Guardians of the Galaxy: Awesome Mix Tape Vol. 1 or create your own party mixtape with your child and watch everyone dance like Peter Quill to Hooked on a Feeling or like baby Groot to the Jackson 5.
  • Hang a "We are Groot" banner over the entrance and there won't be any doubt that everyone is in the business of saving the galaxy together.
  • Buy cardboard standups of your child's favorite characters, or if you're up for a challenge, spend a weekend making your own!
  • Balloons are an essential part of decorating for any party. Our Guardians of the Galaxy balloon kits include everything you need to add some lift to the festivities.

Guardians of the Galaxy Decorations

A party is not complete without the food and drinks. Serve up some delicious treats like pizza, burgers and cake and mix in a few of these fun food ideas that will fit your Guardians of the Galaxy Party perfectly.

  • Bake cookies with your favorite recipe and cut the dough into tree shapes, then decorate them with brown and green icing and add a smiling Groot face.
  • For even more fun, add a base to your Groot cookies and press them into the tops of a batch of cupcakes and they'll look just like baby Groot dancing to the Jackson 5!
  • You can make another cool Groot snack by pressing a marshmallow onto the top of a pretzel stick and press smaller broken up pretzel sticks into the top of the marshmallow. Coat the whole thing in melted chocolate and place it in the fridge to cool for a delicious dessert!
  • You can make an awesome Guardians of the Galaxy cake without a ton of work by baking a cake with your favorite cake mix and decorating it to look like the mix tape Peter Quill's mother gives to him on the night he leaves Earth. Ice it with red and white stripes and write "Awesome Mix Vol. !" above a special birthday message!

Guardians of the Galaxy Party Favor Ideas

Party favors are an essential part of any party. They're a great way to thank your guests for coming to the party and making your child's big day extra special. Send everyone home happy with an assortment of cool toys and games, or think of cool activities that you can do during the party or beforehand to make party favor time more personal. Here are just a few party favor ideas you may want to try:

  • Send your guests home with their own Groots! Have each child plant seeds in a small pot during the party as both a fun activity and a great party favor.
  • Another fun activity that you can send home with each child as a party favor is making Guardians of the Galaxy masks. Cut out paper board in the shape of each Guardian's face and have the children decorate them however they like!
  • If you just want to buy small items to fill favor cups or favor bags, then our Outer Space party favors are a great choice. Many of them can be personalized with a message thanking your child's friends for their gifts and attendance.
  • Order other space age items like space putty, glow sticks, and disc launchers and provide everyone with hours of fun even after the party is over!
Whether you give out our ready-made goodies, your own homemade ones, or an assortment of both, they won't be able to wait for the next party at your house!
