Daniel Tiger Birthday Party

It’s a beautiful day in the neighborhood, a beautiful day for a party! Your preschool aged cutie has followed along with the plots to learn manners, express emotions and play nice and now he can practice all those skills surrounded by friends and family at a Daniel Tiger Birthday Party. He’ll be sure to have a grr-iffic time snacking on treats reminiscent of each of the characters on this beloved show and can’t wait to gift each neighbor a little gift for attending his big celebration.

Invitations

Invite friends to the neighborhood of Make-Believe with an invitation featuring all the main characters of the show.

Decorations

Daniel Tiger’s orange fur and red accessories are the perfect color palette for your birthday! Consider trying out the balloon arch method over the main food table, mixing in some tiger themed balloons and red honeycomb garlands for texture. The great part about this upward facing smile style arch is that it requires no helium!

If you want to add more friends from the neighborhood to your party table but don’t have a flat wall behind it to display wall decals, consider mounting them on foam core. Use temporary adhesive so they can be used as their true wall decoration purpose after the party or slap them on and stand them up for some friendly neighbors!

Don’t forget to dress your birthday boy in a red hoodie and sneakers to fit his Daniel Tiger birthday party theme! Or, go all out and get him the Daniel Tiger costume so he can BE Daniel himself! Those who want to get in the Daniel Tiger spirit can sport one of the Prince Wednesday crowns or printed party hats in the party atmosphere.

Raid your little guy’s toy bin for some Daniel Tiger toys that can help to dress the table. If you’re low on pristine looking toy accessories, make sure you stock up on paper plates, napkins and cups that fit the theme!

Food

When it comes to food and drinks, get inspired by all the unique and playful characters on the show. Trolley can be front and center aside his Make-Believe friends when propped on top of your main birthday boy’s cake. You don’t have to be Baker Aker to have a beautiful creation for your big day! Make a plain chocolate cake a little extra fancy with some trendy chocolate drizzle running down the sides. Reese pieces fit the tiger color palette so find a way to sneak this candy into the party desserts!

Meow Meow! Friends don’t have to be of the feline variety to enjoy this kid friendly Katerina Kittycat kitty chow. Whip together some Kix, Cheerios, popcorn or any dry snack mix with some candies for a fun surprise.

People will run to say their please and thank yous when trying to get their hands on O the Owl Rice krispies treats pops complete with mini OREO cookie eyes and a candy corn nose!

Daniel has a place at this food table too! Grab a Sharpie marker and some googly eyes and turn a fruit cup of oranges into Daniel Tiger or dip pretzel rods in orange chocolate and drizzle regular chocolate over top for some tiger tales! You can easily do the same with mini clementine oranges for another healthy treat!

Activities

At some time at the party you’ll need to encourage your friends to do their best when it comes to party activities. Don’t forget! Your best is best for you! Everyone can take turns some of these fun party games and activities because everyone is big enough to do something:

  • Create your own life sized Trolley from a wagon and a cardboard box cover and take turns riding friends around the neighborhood.
  • Find a blank wall in your home and help kids work to match the silhouette with the character from the show in this fun matching game.
  • Consider a craft! Turn a white paper plate in a cute Daniel Tiger face with the help of some paint and paper scraps.
  • Play musical chairs with the adults singing along to kids’ favorite nursery tunes!

Favors

Friends will for sure be leaving your party saying it was Grr-ffic! Send them on their way with a little collection of goodies in a cardboard favor box. Include fun gifts all toddler love, like Play Doh but throw in some Daniel Tiger goodies. Who doesn’t need a new toothbrush after that day of sweets?! Don’t forget to wave goodbye and shout “UGGA MUGGA” when they leave!
