This Army Party couldn't have been easier, and the boys loved it!
For my son's 5th birthday, we invited his friends and a few dads over for an army party and backyard sleepover. We pitched some tents, set up a fire pit, and created an army obstacle course the day before the party.
For camo decorations, we used an army parachute and army party supplies along with army men (cupcake toppers and table decorations). We added some surplus netting to complete the scene.
We asked boys to show up in army drab colors, and we painted their faces with camouflage paint when the arrived. The camo party hats were a great prop. We assigned boys to their barracks (tent #) and SGT (dad in charge of tent) and then played games until it was time to cook out.
We had a water bomb fight with boys trying to hit their dads in the middle of a big circle. We had an army obstacle course with ropes, belly crawl, wheel barrow race, and then finished it off with man hunt hide and go seek and king of the mountain. Tired and hungry, we sat them around a fire pit "camp fire" and roasted hot dogs and served drinks in canteens. For dessert, we had army men cupcakes.
After a few "war" stories, all the little soldiers sacked out in the tents.
The army theme has a huge hit, and the kids want to do it every year. And best of all, since it was mostly outside -- the house survived!
