Springtime Match Game

Before the Party:

1. Gather toys and pictures of items seen in springtime, such as a ladybug, fly, grasshopper, ant, bee, caterpillar, lamb, baby chick, calf, bird, butterfly, daffodil, tulip, leaf, and green grass.


2. Place a slip of paper with a number next to each item, starting with 1.


3. For children about age seven and younger, create a list of the item names, but in a scrambled order.


4. Children eight and older won’t need this help, and will most likely know the item names themselves.


5. Have paper ready for each guest, with the lines numbered to match how many items you have collected.


6. For example, if you will be using ten items for the game, number the lines on the paper from 1 to 10. You will also need pencils for each player.

1. Place the objects and pictures on a table with their number in front.


2. Hand out paper and pencils to each guest.


3. The children need to identify the objects and write them down on their paper.


4. Younger children will have a page with a list of the items in a scrambled order, and blank lines that are numbered.


5. The younger children can simply draw a line from the name of the item to the correct number.


6. Older children will have an empty paper with numbered lines, and they should print the item name next to the correct number.


7. To add more excitement, set a timer for five minutes as the children begin identifying the items.


8. Whoever identifies the most items correctly before the timer rings is the winner.
