Road Rally Cake Hunt

Object of the Game:

The object of this game is for the children to find the birthday cake by following clues.

Preparation:

Before the party, write out your clues using the examples below, or come up with a few of your own. It's fun to write them on pieces of an old road map, if one is available.

If preschoolers are participating, you will have to either find a helper to assist them with reading the clues or draw pictures of the locations of subsequent clues. For instance, you could draw a car on a picture of a tree to indicate that the clue is by a tree.

Once your clues are prepared, hide them in the appropriate spots starting with the last clue and working backwards.

Sample Clues:

Put the pedal to the floor
to find a clue by the door!

It's time for you to make a stop;
the pit crew's clue is near a mop.

Your car is cool; your car is fast.
The clue is hidden near the trash.

This clue's really not a stumper;
You'll find it near a chrome rear bumper.

How to Play:

At the party, hand the children the first clue. Lead them from clue to clue until they find the cake.

For ease, clues should probably lead back to the cake table. You would simply put the cake on the table just before the children arrive at the last location.
