Magical Creature Craft

What You'll Need:

Modeling or Craft Clay
A Variety of Colored Pipe Cleaners
A Variety of Beads
Toothpicks
Popsicle Sticks

At the Party:

Give each guest a sufficient amount of modeling or craft clay. Set beads, pipe cleaners, toothpicks, and popsicle sticks out on a table where all of the children can access them. Then, let the children mold their lumps of clay into their own magical creatures. Toothpicks and/or popsicle sticks may be used to create a skeleton to help support a creature's arms, legs, head, tail, wings, etc. Pipe cleaners and beads may be added for eyes, horns, and other features.

For younger children, it may help to remind them of the types of creatures that Harry encountered, such as flobberworms, basilisks, unicorns, dragons, hippogriffs, centaurs, hinkypunks, house elves, skrewts, and so on.

When everyone has finished, have your guests name and display their creatures. Award prizes in the categories of scariest creature, largest creature, funniest creature, and any other fun categories you choose.
