What's in the Bag?

What You'll Need:

• 26 Brown Paper Bags
• A Black Marker
• 1 Kitchen Utensil or Food Item for Each Letter of the Alphabet
• Lined Paper
• Pens or Pencils (1 per team)

1. Using a black marker, write one letter of the alphabet in large script on each bag.


2. Place a single food or kitchen item in each bag, making sure that the name of the object starts with the letter that's on the corresponding bag.


3. If you don't have an item for every letter of the alphabet, remove the bags for those letters.

1. Divide your guests into teams of two or three.


2. Place the lettered bags on a table within reach of all of the teams.


3. Hand each team a piece of paper with the letters A through Z (minus any letters that you did not include) written along the length of the left margin.


4. When you say, "Go," each team grabs a bag.


5. Without looking, each team member reaches into the chosen bag and feels the contents to guess the identity of the object inside.


6. Once a team agrees on a guess, they put their bag back on the table, write down the guess, and grab another bag.


7. As soon as one team has recorded a guess for each bag, all teams must stop.


8. Announce the actual contents of each bag, showing the players each item as you say its name.


9. The team with the most correct answers wins.


10. Here are some examples for bag contents: A - Apple, G - Grater, O - Onion, R - Rolling Pin, W - Whisk, Z - Zucchini, and so on.
