Train Tracks

Preparation:

Use easily-removable masking tape to make tracks throughout the party area that lead to the location of either the cake or the presents. To make things more interesting, add forks in the road and place signs, such as detours or arrows, at each split.


At the Party:

1. When you are ready to serve the cake or open presents, have the children form a train by lining up with their hands on the hips of the person in front of them.


2. Start at the beginning of the track, and tell the children they must follow it to get to the cake (or presents).


3. As the train chugs along, the children should sing:

Down at the station, early in the morning,
see the little puffer bellies, all in a row.
Hear the engine driver pull the little handle,
chug chug, toot toot, off we go…
