What You'll Need:
- Several Large Sheets of Green Construction Paper
- Scissors
- Music (A tape or CD will suffice, but live music is especially nice!)
Preparation: - Cut one large leaf out of green construction paper for each guest.
- Scatter the leaves randomly on the floor of the main party area with space in between each so that no two overlap.
At the Party: - Tell your guests that, when the music starts playing, they should hop and skip around the party area, pretending to be ladybugs flying through a garden.
- Then, when the music stops, they must each find a leaf on which to land.
- To begin the game, start playing the music. Stop the music after a few moments, and wait while each of your guests finds a leaf. (In the first round, there should be one leaf per player.)
- Start the music again, and then pick up one leaf while the children are moving around the room.
- When you stop the music the second time, all but one child will have a leaf to stand on; this child must leave the garden (i.e. sit out until the end of the game).
- Continue playing, removing a leaf after each round, until only two children are left in the game.
- The last child to stand on a leaf with both feet is the winner.
