Let your guests be Handy Manny for the day by setting up a few different work stations where they can paint and “fix” things.
Here are a few ideas:

  • Hammer Time—Allow children to hammer pre-started nails or screw pre-started screws into a board. If you use real tools, you may want an adult at each station to supervise. For younger children, consider using a children’s tool station instead.
  • Painting Area—Place large sheets of thick brown paper outside or tape on the floor. Get some real paint brushes and roll-on brushes and allow the kids to have fun painting.
  • Construction Zone--Put blocks, legos, Tinker Toys, Lincoln Logs, and other toys in an area where children can construct their own buildings.
  • Measuring Station—Provide a measuring tape and show kids how to measure different lengths of wood and other objects.
