What You'll Need:
- 2 beach towels, 2 pairs of sunglasses, 2 beach hats, and 2 inflatable ring-shaped water flotation toys
- For older children, you will also need two beach balls
Preparation:
Each team gets one of each item listed above. Place the two sets of beach items about 25 feet away from the starting point, or whatever distance you feel is best for the age of your guests. Place a sand bucket or other marker at this spot so the players will know when to turn around and run back to their team.
At The Party:
Divide the children into two teams. When you say “go”, the first member of each team must run to the set of beach clothes and put on all the items. Then they must run back to their teammates and take everything off. The next player on the team must put on all the items and run to the sand pail, turn around, and run back to the team. Continue trading the items until every player has run. Whichever team finishes first is the winner. You might want to give a new beach ball to each member of the winning team.
For older children, make the race more difficult by adding a beach ball to the set of beach clothes. Each player will also place the beach ball between their knees and then walk back to the next team member.
