What do I need for the Party?
We offer many great themes that are perfect for an All Boys party, such as Dinosaurs, Train, and Hot Wheels. Check out all of our boy party themes or simply use solid colors like blue and green instead.
For the basics, you will need plates, napkins, cups, a tablecloth, streamers, and balloons. To help you with your shopping, take a look at our Suggested Party Supply List. You may not need everything on the list, but you can use it as a guide.
All Boys Party Invitations
Invitations can really set the scene for your party, so you may want to use invitations that fit your chosen theme. We have invitation ideas in all our themed party guides. For generic boys’ invitations, consider one of the following ideas:
- Fold a piece of cardstock in half and cut curves on three sides. The end result will be a top-fold card in the shape of a circle. On the front, write GIRLS and draw a diagonal line across it – the universal symbol for “no”. Write the party details inside.
- Fold a piece of yellow cardstock in half and write “BOYZ ONLY” in juvenile handwriting on the front, to resemble a handmade sign on a boy’s bedroom door. Write the party details inside.
- Cut a circle out of blue cardstock and paste stickers of your son’s favorite things around the border (i.e. sports, animals, trucks, etc.). Write your party details in the middle.
- Copy a photo of your son standing with all of his friends and paste it to the bottom of a piece of cardstock. This will make all of the guests feel important, because they were included in the invitation! Write your party details above the photo.
- Include creative wording for your party details, such as:
No girls allowed, it’s a party for boys!
We’ll have lots of fun and make lots of noise!
We’ll start off with pizza, music and games,
And end with a movie – you’ll be glad you came!
If you would rather not make your own invitations, but would still like a personalized touch, consider our Personalized Invitations, which include all the party details for you! We also offer blank invitations that you can fill in yourself.
Decorating & Food Ideas
Decoration Ideas for an All Boys Party
As with invitations, decorations can be either generic or tied to the specific theme you choose for your boys party. Here are some general suggestions for creating a fun atmosphere:
- Use blue and green as your basic color scheme. Drape streamers from the ceiling and anchor groups of balloons around the party area with balloon weights. Add Mylar balloons to some of your balloon groups for added effect.
- Hang a banner or sign on the front door that reads “Boys Only – Password Required” and then send the secret password to your guests in their invitations.
- Use toys that your little boy already owns as decorations, such as toy trucks, train sets, Army men, matchbook cars, or animal figurines.
- As each guest arrives, hand him a party hat to wear. If you are hosting a themed party, match your handouts to the party. For instance, for a Cowboy Party or Pirate Party, hand out cowboy hats or pirate bandanas instead.
- Find favorite photos of your son and his friends. Make color copies and blow them up to poster size. Hang them around the party area.
- Pinatas are fun for any party! Hang a pinata in the party area that can be used as a decoration before the activity begins. Remember, you can transform any pinata into a pull-string with these easy instructions.
Food Ideas Boys will Love
With a pack of hungry boys, you can’t go wrong with the party staples like pizza, hotdogs, chips, and dip. However, if you want to add a few special treats, consider the following ideas:
- Use truck-shaped or dog-shaped cookie cutters to cut out sandwiches and cookies. You can also make jello treats into shapes after the jello has set.
- Make homemade pretzels and serve them with different toppings, such as cinnamon and sugar, parmesan cheese, sea salt, or chocolate powder.
- Freeze grape juice or red Kool-Aid into ice cubes before the party. During the party, fill each guest’s cup with ginger ale and let them drop their colored ice cubes in the cup, making “magic” bubbly drinks.
- Serve drinks with silly straws.
- Serve “Worms in the Dirt” dessert cups. Fill clear plastic cups with chocolate pudding and sprinkle with crushed oreo cookies. Add a gummy worm to the top of each cup.
- Check out our shaped cake pans for easy and fun cake ideas. From animal cakes to sports cakes, your little boy is sure to find a cake shape he would love to try!
