Camping is a great way for friends to joke around and doesn't require fancy party supplies or girly party games.


How to Have a Camping Party

Ask your teen to call or email a few good friends and let them know you're camping outside for his birthday. In case it rains, you might want to pick a rain date for your party. Everyone can camp in the backyard or at a nearby camping ground. Here are some suggested camping supplies your guests may need:

• Sleeping bags and pillows
• A tent
• A small grill and frozen hotdogs, hamburgers or chicken
• A cooler with ice and drinks
• Flashlights
• Toilet Paper
• Matches
• A pocket knife
• Sport equipment such as a football or baseball and glove
• Fishing equipment (if you plan to fish)
• A change of clothes

Camping Party Game and Activity Ideas

Aside from sitting back and enjoying the wilderness (or the backyard) here are some ways to keep your guests entertained at a camping party.

• Capture the Flag: Form two teams and see who can capture the other team's flag first. This game can also be played at night with flashlights.
• Ghost Stories: Gather around the campfire and tell ghost stories with your friends. Each person can take a turn making up their own story or you make up one story together. This is a good game to play while roasting marshmallows or hotdogs.
• Horseshoes: Form teams and see who can score the most points.
• Outdoor sports: Depending on the location of your camping grounds you may be able to go fishing, canoeing or hike.
• Can Toss: Set up a row of empty soda cans and see who can knock the most down by throwing pebbles.
• Tent pitch: Divide into even teams and see who can pitch their tent the fastest!
• Make S'mores: Roast a marshmallow over a campfire and then put it between two graham crackers with a chocolate bar. Yum!
