What You'll Need:

  • Pictures of Unique Sea Creatures (one per guest)
  • A Magic Marker
  • Scissors
  • Tape

Preparation:

Find and cut out pictures of different sea creatures. Write the name of the animal underneath each picture.

At the Party:

As guests arrive, tape a picture to each child's back without letting them see the picture they've been assigned.

Once everyone has arrived, tell your guests that they have to guess the names of the animals taped to their backs by asking other players questions with yes or no answers.

Tip: Before beginning the game, have the children name different types of sea creatures so that they have some ideas in mind. (e.g. shark, jellyfish, octopus, eel, whale, dolphin, turtle). You may also want to give the children some sample questions to ask each other. For example:
  • Do I have tentacles?
  • Do I have fins?
  • Am I a mammal?
  • Am I gray?

Determining the Winner:

When a child thinks he knows the answer, he should tell the adult leader. The first child to correctly guess the name of the creature on his or her back wins the game, but rejoins the game, helping to answer other guests' questions. Play until everyone has correctly guessed their animal.
