What You'll Need:

  • Paper
  • Pen or Pencil
  • 3 Hats

Before the Party:

Each hat will represent a different element to a movie - the genre, the setting, and the conflict. Write several examples of each category on slips of paper and add them to their corresponding hats. View the examples below for ideas.

Examples:

  • Genre - Comedy, Action, Drama, Horror, Musical
  • Setting - Beach, Campground, House, Mars, Antarctica, The North Pole
  • Conflict - A Bear is Eating Your Food, Aliens Have Just Landed, You Just Saw Bigfoot, You Are Lost, You Lost Your Shoes, Your Car Broke Down

During the Party:

Divide your guests into two groups. Each group picks a genre, setting, and conflict out of each hat. Each team has 10 minutes to come up with a short movie scene that incorporates each element they have chosen. Have the teams perform their scenes for the rest of the guests.
