For this folding technique we used 6.5" x 6.5" paper dinner napkins. Before beginning this project, we suggest practicing with ordinary napkins. Also, keep in mind what color of cutlery will make your presentation pop!
Keep your napkin folded as they come in the package. Turn the napkin so that the opened four corners are at the top and to the right.
Fold the top right corner in half on the diagonal. Crease and then unfold. This will create a diagonal line going from the upper left to the lower right on the front of the napkin. Now, take the first layer at the top right and roll to the diagonal line and then press down and crease. This creates the first stripe on the napkin. It helps to crease the napkin as you roll it.
Roll the next top right corner down so the bottom edge of that layer meets the top edge of the first layer. Crease.
Continue by rolling the third top right corner down to meet the second layer.
Turn the napkin over.
Fold the right side of the napkin 1/3 of the way to the center of the napkin and crease.
Fold the left side of the napkin so the right edge is 1/2 of the way between the middle and crease. Turn the napkin over.
Finally, place cutlery inside the pocket of the folded napkin.
If your folded napkin seems to be popping open, don't worry. Once you place the cutlery in the pocket it will stay in place. If you are still having trouble or would like to be more decorative, tie a ribbon loosely around the folded napkin to keep it in place.
