For this folding technique we used 6.5" x 6.5" paper dinner napkins. Before beginning this project, we suggest practicing with ordinary napkins. Also, keep in mind what color of cutlery will make your presentation pop!
Note: If your napkin is patterned on both sides, then skip to step 1. If your napkin is patterned on one side and white on the back then unfold the napkin and then refold it inside out.
Turn the napkin so that the open corners are at the top and to the left.
Fold down the top right corner diagonally to the bottom and crease.
Turn the napkin over and then rotate it 90° clockwise.
Fold back the right side of the napkin so that it is between the center of the napkin and its crease.
Fold back the left side of the napkin so that its edge is 1/2 between the middle and crease and then turn over.
Place cutlery inside the diagonal pocket.
If your folded napkin seems to be popping open, don't worry. Once you place the cutlery in the pocket it will stay in place. If you are still having trouble or would like to be more decorative, tie a ribbon loosely around the folded napkin to keep it in place.
