What You'll Need:

  • Several Large Sheets of Green Construction Paper
  • Scissors
  • Music (A tape or CD will suffice, but live music is especially nice!)

  1. Cut one large leaf out of green construction paper for each guest.
  2. Scatter the leaves randomly on the floor of the main party area with space in between each so that no two overlap.

At the Party:
  1. Tell your guests that, when the music starts playing, they should hop and skip around the party area, pretending to be ladybugs flying through a garden.
  2. Then, when the music stops, they must each find a leaf on which to land.
  3. To begin the game, start playing the music. Stop the music after a few moments, and wait while each of your guests finds a leaf. (In the first round, there should be one leaf per player.)
  4. Start the music again, and then pick up one leaf while the children are moving around the room.
  5. When you stop the music the second time, all but one child will have a leaf to stand on; this child must leave the garden (i.e. sit out until the end of the game).
  6. Continue playing, removing a leaf after each round, until only two children are left in the game.
  7. The last child to stand on a leaf with both feet is the winner.
